CONCEPT | MOON
since 2010
The 'moon' series has evolved from the 'sphere' series.
I wanted to turn a sphere into a wall object, contrary to its nature. It should appear as if it floats in front of the wall and at the same time merges with it.
To achieve this, it was not enough to place a hemisphere at some distance in front of the wall. The light that surrounds it from behind should make its connection to the wall immaterial and make it at least imaginable that it is a full sphere and not just a hemisphere.
When I had finished the first moon piece, it looked like a celestial body with a corona, floating weightlessly in space. And so the name moon came naturally.
Then I came up with the idea of coloring the light. The LEDs on the back can be programmed in different colours and add something unreal to the work, something impalpable and almost spiritual. It pours colour from the back very subtly over almost the whole painting. It changes not only the hues of the paint, but the impression and expression of the whole face.
The visual impact of the coloured light on the painting is evident as soon as the tone of the LED device changes and another shade of colour bathes the painting in an unatural light.
