CONCEPT |BRAIN
since 2010
The brain series evolved naturally from the spheres series. I had playfully looked for alternatives to stainless steel, which I had used in this series and soon discovered glass.
A sphere made of solid glass was not only a wonderful option in terms of material, but had much more to offer. The optical possibilities of using it as a magnifying and distorting glass were right up my alley.
I could now work with two layers and operate with a second image underneath the actual one, which, moreover, was spectacularly distorted depending on the viewing angle and appeared animated. One could look now literally into the inside of the head of the portrayed person.
The title of the new series, which was thus created, arose just as naturally as the choice of material: brain.
